SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN MANGA SPOILERS!! While not that significant for the plot, it's a heads up for this character.
CHARACTER
Name: Petra Ral
Canon: Shingeki no Kyojin
Age: Apparently in her early 20s (probably 20-22)
Timeline: Chapter 28
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: Mikasa and Petra has no canon interaction at all. They couldn’t have, anyway, because Petra dies before Levi’s squad got to meet the kids from the 104th group. They don’t have much in common except both being from the Scouting Legion, and no reason to talk unless the entire shingeki cast comes together? Mikasa’s not takative enough to have to talk with Petra anyway.
Personality: I would say Petra’s a strong character. She’s young and has a bright future ahead of her, yet she’s in a league where 90% of the soldiers have died during the past five years. And she’s in there without hesitation, not knowing whether she’ll live to see the next day. This is the life of a scouting legion member, as Erwin asks the new recruits in the beginning:
“Will you be able to go die if you’re told to?” “We will not die, sir!”
To be able to honour these words, one must have a strong mind. But not only does Petra have a good mentality, but she’s skilled enough to be considered strong in power, too. She’s picked into Levi’s squad due to her high kill record, hers being the highest out of the four in the squad. She’s tiny, but that just makes one good with the 3DMG. While Petra isn’t fearless, she’s not one to back down right away.
But other than that, Petra is quite a kind character. She looks out for her allies -- the first time we see her she’s helping out a fellow soldier, trying to make his bleeding stop. Petra’s stopped, landed on the ground in the middle of a titan invasion, in order to try to help someone whose bleeding makes it look like he’s long dead. Most soldiers wouldn’t take the risk to save someone, as landing or coming close often results in your own death. She also shows kindness to Eren when he first arrives, telling him not to be too frightened by Levi -- however, when Eren accidentally transforms, another side of her appears as she’s there, ready and prepared with her 3DMG blades like her other peers, prepared to cut off Eren’s head if she has to. This was what she was ordered to, after all. Be there to help kill Eren if he tried using his titan powers to escape. Petra’s a sweetheart, but still a soldier.
While Petra does seem to act nice and sweet to everyone, there is one person that goes on her nerves -- Auruo. With him, Petra bites. She snaps, she scolds, she elbows him in the gut. He just runs on her nerves, though this might also be because he’s trying to imitate Levi (and doing a bad job). Petra respects and admires Levi more than anything else, so Auruo really drives her mad, considering they seem to have known each other before Levi’s unit, and he “didn’t act like this back in the day”.
Like everyone else in Levi’s squad, Petra puts a whole lot of faith in the Lance Corporal. She stays true to his word nd wants to protect him above everything else. Petra’s incredibly loyal. One has to be, when in this branch. She holds trust very high, as proved when she realizes what Eren does for them, she wants them to get to a good relationship where he can learn to trust them, and them to trust him. While she succeeds in doing so, she keeps true to it until her death.
Petra has a good relationship with her parents. She often wrote letters to them, seemingly talking about her life as a Scouting Legion member. After her death, her father comes up to Levi first, talking about a recent letter from Petra, hinting that he wants Levi to take his daughter’s hand in marriage. This means Petra must have said something about Levi in that letter -- implying Petra might have had feelings for Levi.

Currently she’s in her early 20s, and seen as a strong soldier of the Scouting Legion. So strong, she’s hand-picked by Lance Corporal Levi and welcomed to his special squad -- “Levi’s unit”, a group of four soldiers with exceptional skills, and most importantly -- high kill rates. Petra’s record lies at 58 kills, 10 solo and 48 in a team, and is the one with the highest record of the three others in the team.
In the Shingeki no Kyojin canon, the longer you live the higher the rate of survival. The Scouting Legion has lost 90% of their men during 5 years, something everyone knows, which proves how much of an commitment joining this squad is. You never know if you’re going to survive.
Petra is picked out with the rest of Levi’s squad to keep a watch on Eren while they’re still suspicious of him and his powers. She treats him with kindness, though she is prepared at once when he accidentally transforms. Later on she learns to trust him, and when the female titan attacks, she wants Eren to trust them in protecting him.
The Scouting Legion had set plans to capture the female titan alive, and when the plan fails, Petra dies in combat with the female titan, crushed into a tree under the titan’s foot, instantly dying.
Abilities:
+ High kill record of 10 titans solo, 48 in a team. That’s 58 titans, leaving her with the highest kill record in Levi’s unit (though aside from Levi himself).
+ skilled with 3DMG and its blades
+ as a Scouting Legion member, her loyalty runs deep.

Hello? Ah, I think I made it work. Hello, my name is Petra. I’m... a little confused as to why I’m here--
[ considering she just got squashed by a 15 meter tall titan, and woke up on a train in a better than good condition. she doesn’t even think her clothes have been this clean ever, even with levi’s required amount of scrubbing. ]
But uhm.. Nice to meet you. It would be nice if anyone could show me around a bit.
Third Person: It all happened too fast. She tried to steer away, but the titan was too quick-- and in the end she just felt herself slam into a tree, the intense pain of all the bones in her body crushed came and went as quickly as it appeared and she fell into darkness. Then, nothing.
Petra woke up, hands grabbing into the arm leans of her seat, and she snapped forward, breathing heavily. A bad dream..? She turned her head, seeing a completely unfamiliar landscape. While it was similar, it wasn’t home. Petra sunk back into the seat, putting her hands in front of her face. She must have died. Recklessly as well, if only she had listened to Auruo, she would’ve-- she might’ve--
She held back a sob. No, she couldn’t think like this. Lance Corporal Levi would be ashamed. Still, she couldn’t help to wonder... How will her father react? He was against her joining the military the entire time, but she had assured him she wouldn’t die...
Petra just hoped that she died with reason, that they in the end, managed to protect Eren. And that everyone was okay.
When the train came to a halt, she stepped off, looking around cautiously. “Ruby City...” she mumbled to herself as she read it off a sign. Yet... she found herself a little curious, so she walks off, into the city.
